60% telco executives say legacy IT systems preventing monetisation of networks: Accenture study

NEW DELHI: 60% of telecom operator executives said that they are unable to monetise their networks due to the existing legacy information technology (IT) systems in the infrastructure, according to the findings of an Accenture survey released on Wednesday.

37% of executives mentioned large IT maintenance and operational costs as well as slow and expensive new-service creation as the top issues arising from the high proportion of legacy in their IT infrastructure.

The study found that the financial and operational costs of maintaining the legacy systems are rising year over year.
