Telecom talent supply-demand gap in India to widen in 5G, 6G in absence of skilling: TSSC

NEW DELHI: The talent supply-demand gap in India’s fledgling telecom industry will further widen in the 5G-era and amid sixth-generation (6G) technology development in the future in the absence of constant upskilling and reskilling of workers, according to the Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC).

“There is a requirement for reskilling, upskilling, and skilling put together. Let’s say, a person has worked on 2G for some time, then he gets trained for 3G, 4G, 5G, and subsequently, 6G. So, if there is no upskilling like this, then the gap will keep increasing,” Arvind Bali, CEO of TSSC, told ETTelecom in an interview.
