Google is making it easier for others to get your name’s pronunciation right
Mispronouncing names can be jarring, awkward, and even offensive. It looks like Google has a way to fix the pronunciation problem, albeit for a select group of users. Google has introduced a new feature that allows users to take control of how their names are heard.
Gone are the days of relying on phonetic approximations or hoping colleagues will eventually decipher your name correctly. This new feature allows users to record their own pronunciation directly within their Google Workspace profile. With a simple click and speak, you can capture the nuances of your name, be it subtle emphasis on a specific syllable or a unique roll of the tongue.
But it doesn’t stop there. Pronunciations in profiles are fully integrated with Google Workspace tools like Gmail, Docs, and Meet.
