Bharti Airtel looks to prepay bulk of 2015 spectrum dues

Kolkata & Mumbai: Bharti Airtel is likely to soon make additional calls to access a portion of its remaining rights issue proceeds to prepay the bulk of its balance dues on spectrum bought in the 2015 auction, people familiar with the matter told ET.

The telco’s imminent move is the likely trigger for its key promoter company, Bharti Telecom Ltd (BTL), to set in motion plans to raise around Rs 8,000 crore (under $1 billion) in multiple tranches via NCDs (non-convertible debentures).
