Deepfake has emerged as a new threat, new regulation soon to tackle it: Ashwini Vaishnaw

Union Minister for Communications, Electronics & IT Ashwini Vaishnaw today chaired a meeting with social media platforms to discuss the issue of deepfakes and said the government will come up with new regulations in the coming weeks to tackle it.

Vaishnaw said deepfake has emerged as a new threat in the society, adding that the companies have agreed on the need for clear actionable work in areas such as detection, prevention, strengthening of reporting mechanism, and raising user awareness.
