Apple adds new section on its website, ‘Apps by Apple’: What it is and more
Apple seems to be preparing for the entry of third-party app stores on iPhones. The European Union is likely to make it mandatory for Apple to allow third-party app stores by 2024. Bracing for the eventuality, Apple has quietly added a new page on its website — Apps by Apple – that seemingly aims to create awareness about the native apps on iPhones, iPads, Apple Watch, Macs and Apple TV.
Why the ‘new page’
Apple has been opposing the idea of allowing third-party app stores also known as sideloading on iPhones since quite some time. Apple’s contention is that third-party stores will affect the security that Apple devices offer to their users.
