Google DeepMind co-founder wants US to link AI chip sales to minimum artificial intelligence standards

Earlier this year, major technology giants, including Alphabet’s Google, OpenAI and Meta among others, voluntarily committed to the White House to implement a number of measures for responsible development of AI. Now, the co-founder of Google DeepMind, the company’s AI arm, has called on the US government to enforce minimum standards for all AI companies to make them eligible to purchase Nvidia’s AI chips.

According to a report by The Financial Times, DeepMind’s co-founder Mustafa Suleyman has said that the US should allow Nvidia’s AI chips only to buyers who agree to ethically use the technology.
