Cop tries to kill himself after loss in e-rummy in Chennai

CHENNAI: A police constable consumed poison after suffering loss in online rummy at Kodungaiyur on Sunday.

He is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Tirupattur.

Murali, a constable at Kodungaiyur police station, was living at Kondithope police quarters. He was posted for duty at Anna Arivalayam from June 16. After finishing his duty on August 24, he went to his native place in Thirupathur district, police said.

The constable had to return on August 25 for duty but he did not come show up. His parents informed his seniors that he had consumed poison in his farmland.
