Thomson to get its laptops to India; plans local production

French electronics maker Thomson is planning to enter the laptop market in India, with the company close to finalising a Noida-based contract manufacturer to make the devices locally, said a senior executive.

“Thomson will be coming in a big manner in the laptop category. This decision has been made to counter laptop brands which have come in smart TVs. We will be targeting all segments from entry level to ultra-premium,” Avneet Singh Marwah, CEO of Super Plastronics Private Limited (SPPL), Thomson’s official brand licensee and manufacturing partner in India, told ET.
