‘Cheaper 5G handsets may keep mobile sales from falling in ’23’

Indian consumers are starting to see the first signs of 5G smartphones priced around Rs 10,000 or just below, as brands double down on the segment to tap volumes ahead of the crucial festive season. The spree of launches has prompted market trackers such as Counterpoint Research to raise their 2023 shipment outlook to an on-year growth—albeit tepid—from an expected on-year fall.
