Woman tries to buy dryfruit online, loses Rs 7 lakh in scam

MUMBAI: A Mulund-based housewife was cheated of Rs 7 lakh while trying to buy dry fruits online.

She came across the dry fruit seller through a Facebook advertisement. She has lodged an FIR with the Mulund police against the unknown persons.

The 38-year-old woman told police that on July 20 while she was on Facebook she came across an advertisement that stated, ‘Mulund buy and sale group’ where there was a 40 % off on dry fruits. She decided to buy one kg of mixed dry fruits and made a Whatsapp call to the given number. The person told her that she would have to make an advance payment online and only then would her order be delivered.
