CJI cautions about misuse of tech, social media, AI; says human values, justice matter

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the buzzword these days, but it has its flip sides and can end up being a tool to perpetuate discrimination. D Y Chandrachud, Chief Justice of India, said this in Chennai during his address to graduating students at the 60th convocation of IIT Madras.

“Technology, especially one fostering quicker communication to a larger spectrum of audiences such as social media, and artificial intelligence (AI) which has permeated all sectors, should create affordances against misuse because human values and individual privacy are of paramount importance,” he said.
