Telcos activate intra circle roaming as cyclone hits Gujarat

New Delhi: Telecom operators are taking various initiatives including activating intra-circle roaming, deploying portable sites while also provisioning adequate diesel and battery backup to tower sites to mitigate the impact of cyclone Biparjoy on telecom infrastructure, especially in the worst-affected areas of Kutchh, Jamnagar, and Dwarka.

The telecom firms are working along with the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), infrastructure providers, National disaster management authority (NDMA) as well as local state entities to ensure that there is minimal impact on connectivity services.

As per officials of the telecom firms, intra-circle roaming has been activated in the affected areas.
