Google officially ends support for 1st-generation Chromecast
Google launched its 1st generation Chromecast in 2013. The tech giant has now quietly announced that the company has ended support for the device. This means that Google will no longer offer updates to the 1st generation Chromecast.
Google offered 10 years of support for the first generation Chromecast. The company has also announced that with the end of support the company may notice some degradation in the performance of Chromecast. “Support for Chromecast (1st gen) has ended, which means these devices no longer receive software or security updates, and Google does not provide technical support for them. Users may notice a degradation in performance,” said the company. The company released the last firmware version 1.36.159268 in November 2022 for the 2013 Chromecast.
