BCCI may wait for Zee-Sony merger to sell media rights for India’s bilateral cricket matches
The Board of Control for Cricket in India may not come out with a tender document to sell media rights for the Indian cricket team’s bilateral series immediately after the Indian Premier League, as the richest cricket board may wait for the Zee-Sony merger to conclude, according to industry sources.
BCCI may want to wait for some time and watch how the Zee-Sony merger pans out before issuing the tender for future bilateral series involving the Indian cricket team, one of the sources said on condition of anonymity. In fact, it is also not certain if the BCCI will sell the rights for four years (from 2023 to 2027) or for a different tenure, the source added.
