Homegrown 5G core network from Jio, Tata likely this year: C-DoT CEO
NEW DELHI: In a boost to homegrown technology development, the fifth generation or 5G core network gear is expected to come out within this year, and the state-run Bharat Sanchar Network Limited (BSNL) would start upgrading to the next generation technology by the end of this year, a top official said.
“Both 5G core and radio will come up this year. 5G NSA (non standalone) is already settled. 5G SA (standalone) core and 5G carrier-grade radios will find a place in BSNL network within this year,” Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO, Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT) said.
Upadhyay was speaking at the ETTelecom roundtable, a part of a special initiative on the occasion of World Telecommunication Day 2023.
