This is what Snap CEO has to say on TikTok ban
At the Snap Partner Summit held on April 19, when asked about his thoughts on a potential ban on TikTok, Evan Spiegel, CEO of Snap (formerly known as Snapchat), responded enthusiastically, saying, “we’d love that.” And the crowd cheered, but Spiegel was quick to acknowledge that the excitement would not be for long.
“I do think it is important for us to be thoughtful and really develop a regulatory framework to deal with national security concerns, especially around technology,” Spiegel said. “And I think based on the information that is publicly available, there are legitimate national security concerns far above my pay grade and security clearance.”
In an effort to retain its Gen Z user base and compete with TikTok’s exponential growth, Snapchat, like many other social media platforms, has introduced its own short-form video feed and creator program.
