Cyber frauds cash in on people’s greed in Hyderabad: SS Rajamouli

HYDERABAD: Ignorance and greed are the primary reasons for most people falling prey to cyber frauds, said director SS Rajamouli at Hyderabad Annual Cybersecurity Knowledge (HACK) Summit 2023 held in the city on Wednesday.

To buttress his point, the director cited the case of a top politician, without naming him, who once contacted his cousin to find out how to collect $10 million lottery that he had won based on the message on his phone.

Irrespective of being educated or illiterate, people often succumbed to baits promising them freebies when they should actually remember that nothing comes for free in life, the director told the audience during an interactive session at the event organised by Hyderabad police in coordination with Hyderabad City Security Council (HCSC).
