India wearable market exits 2022 with 47% rise in shipments to 100 mn units: IDC

NEW DELHI: The India wearable market exited 2022 with a strong 46.9% year-over-year growth as shipments reached 100 million units, according to an International Data Corporation (IDC) report released Wednesday.

The December quarter (4Q22) saw 25.2 million unit shipments, growing 16.5% year-over-year. IDC said that the second half of the fourth quarter saw a cyclical dip in demand, following high shipments in the first half.

The wrist band category declined the sharpest at 84.4% year-over-year in Q4, while the earwear category remained flat with a 1.4% growth, and the smartwatch category grew the sharpest at 73.6% in the December quarter, as per IDC data.
