Xiaomi, Apple, Samsung ‘suffer’ as smartphone shipments decline worldwide
2022 wasn’t that great a year for the global smartphone market. Numbers from various research firms have already indicated that there was a decline in the number of shipments. And now IDC’s latest research report further cements those claims. More so because the holiday quarter — traditionally seeing high volumes — saw a major decline in smartphone sales. According to a report by IDC, worldwide smartphone shipments declined 18.3% year over year to 300.3 million units in the fourth quarter of 2022.
