BBC documentary ban: The questions won’t go away

None of the reasons cited by the government for blocking videos of the BBC documentary India: the Modi Question is right and valid. The I&B Ministry used emergency powers under the IT Rules, 2021, to block multiple videos on YouTube and Twitter and some tweets with links to access the videos. The action is similar to the ban on the film Kissa Kursi Ka by the then government during the Emergency. The documentary is about the 2002 violence in Gujarat in which hundreds of people, mostly Muslims, were killed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has faced charges that he did not do enough as Chief Minister to bring the violence under control. The documentary is based on a UK government report, interviews, and investigations.
