Amazon cuts more jobs: Read what company’s HR head told employees in an email
Late last year, Amazon revealed that it will cut as many as 18,000 jobs. Now, the company has confirmed that more jobs will be cut. According to a report by CNBC, this will be the biggest number of layoffs in the company’s history.
Why is Amazon laying off employees?
In November 2022, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy sent a memo to all employees informing them about job cuts. Jassy told employees that the company had to make the decision as “the economy remains in a challenging spot and we’ve hired rapidly the last several years.” Jassy also said that “Amazon has weathered uncertainty and difficult economies in the past, and we will continue to do so.”
