Mumbai: Despite a steady increase in cybercrime, lack of coordination between various entities involved in digital transactions continues to block investigation of such offences.
Cyber expert Ritesh Bhatia said, “Police have the intent, but lack of support from intermediaries like social media companies, telecom networks, banks, payment gateways, etc is a problem. Police require quick support.”
The Mumbai Police Crime Report 2022 said of 4,718 cybercrime cases filed last year, 2,170 involve financial fraud.
