Amazon to make exceptional payments to those laid off

BENGALURU: Amazon, which recently announced that there would be layoffs in January, will give employees being fired two months of salary as per the contractual obligation, along with additional two months’ salary, sources said.

These sources also said that the company will make exceptional payments to these employees based on the tenure they have served in the company. Amazon did not respond to TOI’s mail on the queries sent to them on the issue.

Last week, TOI had reported that Amazon will sack 1,000 employees, which is 1% of its workforce in India. Amazon has 1 lakh employees in India.
