Qualcomm has unveiled a new chipset for mid-range smartphones, the Snapdragon 782G, also a successor to last year’s Snapdragon 778G+ chipset. The new chipset – being an iterative update – brings slight improvements to CPU and GPU performance.

A 5% increase in CPU performance and 10% better GPU performance

The Snapdragon 782G has the same configuration as its predecessor, featuring a Kryo 670 Prime core, which runs at a tad higher clock speed of 2.7GHz, 3x Kryo 670 Gold having a frequency of up to 2.2GHz, and 4x Kryo 670 Silver at up to 1.9GHz. Qualcomm says that the Snapdragon 782G would offer a 5% increase in performance. Even the GPU inside is the same as the last chipset, the Adreno 642L, though it comes with a 10% boost in performance.
