The government has put out a draft Indian Telecommunication Bill, 2022 for public consultation, proposing comprehensive legislation to replace three laws: the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885, the Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act, 1933, and the Telegraph Wires (Unlawful Possession) Act, 1950. The main thrust of the bill, described by many experts as a landmark legislation, is to protect users. The proposed law is not without concerns though.
