Satcom reforms to help satellite players facilitate faster 5G services rollout: SIA-India

NEW DELHI: The wireless licensing reforms will streamline processes, enable service providers to quickly roll out networks, while reduced compliance burdens will improve the ease of doing business, said SIA-India.

Establishing guidelines for satellite-based communication networks and reducing in charges of the networks will make them affordable, said the satellite industry body in a statement on Wednesday. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has also enhanced the scope of satellite licensing to include user terminal stations on moving platforms and satellite-based machine-to-machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
