Apple SIM is no longer available for activating data plans on iPads
Starting October 1, 2022, Apple SIM can no longer be used to activate new cellular plans on iPads. MacRumors has reported that Apple has silently updated the cellular data support page which clearly mentions that the support for new activations using both standard and embedded Apple SIM will no longer be available. Although, those who are using the Apple SIM on their iPad won’t be affected by this change.
Apple SIM is an embedded SIM
Introduced in 2014, Apple SIM is an embedded physical SIM that can be configured with any telecom service provider’s profile and used with iPads to provide cellular services without the need of buying a new physical SIM from the service provider.
