Airtel, IBM team up to deploy edge computing platform, tap enterprise business
NEW DELHI: Bharti Airtel and International Business Machines (IBM) Wednesday partnered to jointly deploy Airtel’s edge computing platform at 120 data centers across 20 locations to tap enterprise business as the commercial next generation (5G) network services are likely to be launched soon in India.
“There is a need in the market that we have collectively solved. We are able to deliver certain AI-based and data analytics capabilities through edge computing,” IBM India managing director Sandip Patel told ETTelecom.
Patel further said that Bharti Airtel has the infrastructure and build the edge platform which would be launched across telco’s sites, and scaled up accordingly as customers come on board.
