DoT simplifies RoW rules to expedite 5G infrastructure rollout

NEW DELHI: The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has made certain amendments to the Indian Telegraph Right of Way (RoW) Rules, 2016 to facilitate a quicker and easier rollout of telecom infrastructure, and launched a 5G RoW application form on the GatiShakti Sanchar Portal to aid in faster 5G rollout in the country.

Telecom minister Ashwini Vaishnaw while addressing the media on Thursday underlined four basic foundations for ensuring faster 5G rollout in India, which are the allocation of spectrum, reforms in the processing of RoW permission, co-operative federalism and rollout of services.
