Tech M looking to work with network players, OEMs to set up 5G networks: CFO Rohit Anand

IT services provider Tech Mahindra is looking to work with network players and the original equipment makers (OEMs) to help set them 5G networks, said its Chief Financial Officer Rohit Anand, adding that as the network becomes larger and enterprises’ 5G use cases become broad-based, the company will look to support them, too.

The CFO’s comments came in the backdrop of India conducting a seven-day 5G spectrum auction which concluded earlier this month, and that received a good response from the telcos. Market leader Reliance Jio emerged as the largest bidder, spending over Rs 88,000 crore; it was followed by Airtel which spent Rs 43,000 crore, and Vodafone Idea which spent Rs 18,799 crore. First-time bidder Adani Data Networks had won airwaves worth Rs 212 crore. Below are the edited excerpts from Tech M CFO’s interaction.
