5G tablet shipments in India grow 71% YoY in Q2: CMR

NEW DELHI: 5G tablet shipments in India grew 71% year-on-year in Q2 2022 in India, beating the tablet market’s year-on-year growth of 68%, according to the latest data released by Cybermedia Research (CMR) on Wednesday.

In contrast, 4G tablet shipments lagged behind with a 65% growth during the same period, CMR data showed.

“Driven by the 5G rollouts in the near future, we foresee an impetus in 5G tablet shipments in the tablet market, similar to the trends observed in the 5G smartphone market. The gradual opening-up of the Indian economy is translating to a growth in the commercial tablet business. During the quarter, Oppo and Xiaomi entered the tablet market with new offerings,” said Menka Kumari, Analyst-Industry Intelligence Group (IIG), CMR.
