Pan-Indian 5G roll-out soon, will cover all towns by March 2024: Airtel CEO
Bharti Airtel’s roll-out of 5G on a pan-Indian basis will cover every town and key rural areas by March 2024, the company’s chief executive officer and managing director, Gopal Vittal, said in a post-results conference call on Tuesday.
“We intend to launch 5G starting August and extending to a pan-Indian roll-out very soon. Detailed network roll-out plans for 5,000 towns in India are in place,” Vittal stated in a post result conference call on Tuesday.
He, however, did not give the launch date and said the company was yet to decide on pricing its 5G plans.
Airtel, which saw nearly a six-fold jump in its net profit in the first quarter of FY23 to Rs 1,607 crore on a year-on-year basis, has signed network agreements with Ericsson, Nokia, and Samsung.
