5G Auction: What analysts said on Bharti Airtel, Voda Idea & Jio

As the 5G auction concludes, Reliance NSE -0.10 % Jio and Bharti Airtel NSE 0.43 % gained a significant quantity of spectrum in the key mid and high bands, with Jio also adding in sub-GHz band of 700 MHz. Analysts said the price both Bharti Airtel and Jio have ended up paying is more than their expectations. Besides, they felt that the aggressive Jio purchases would require Bharti to go in for further spectrum in the next auction.

Vodafone Idea’s positioning may be further impacted as peers scale up 5G offerings, analysts warned, even as global experiences suggest the monetisation of such spectrum will be slow, long-dated.
