Electronics manufacturers hail govt move on QR codes in packaging of products

New Delhi: Electronics manufacturers have hailed the government’s move to adopt QR codes for the declaration of large portions of mandatory information, in the labelling requirements of packaged commodities.

The ministry of consumer affairs passed an amendment to the Legal Metrology Act on July 14, stating that electronic products manufactured or imported after July 15, shall inform consumers to scan the QR code for information not declared in the package.
