Ministry of Home Affairs panel to engage states on cyber crime: Amit Shah
Union home minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that a committee headed by union home secretary will deliberate with states to come up with a strategy to prevent cyber crimes and financial frauds on social media. Shah was speaking at the 30th Northern Zonal Council meet in Jaipur where the chief ministers of Rajasthan, Haryana Himachal Pradesh and lieutenant governors of Delhi, Chandigarh and Ladakh were present. Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann did not attend but Delhi’s deputy CM Manish Sisodia and Punjab’s finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema were present.
The council emphasised on the need to ensure the security of the nation’s cyberspace and the security of citizens as a whole. Shah urged the central and state agencies to use the common software developed by the ministry of home affairs (MHA) and advised them to work together to identify the issues and find out the culprits.
