#BoycottJioVodaAirtel: Cancel culture hits telco majors over tariff hikes
The telecom industry is next in line in the tariff hike saga, after the petrol industry. With effect from December 1 Airtel, Jio, Vodafone have announced to increase their talktime charges.
The pandemic meant telcos had to wait for almost two years to implement any meaningful tariff hike. The last major tariff hike took place in December 2019 when all three telcos raised headline tariffs across the board.
After a wait of two years, Airtel announced 20-25 per cent hike across all its prepaid plans. A day later, Vodafone Idea too hiked it’s prepaid tariffs.
