Cyber security report reveals increase in ransomware threats

CHENNAI: A new report on cyber security has revealed that ransomware groups are continuing to grow in “sophistication, boldness, and volume”, with numbers up across the board since the second quarter of the year.

The Ransomware Index Spotlight Report, a collaboration between Ivanti and Cyber Security Works and Cyware (that specializes in threat intelligence solutions), found an increase of 4.5% in Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) in ransomware, a 4.5% increase in actively exploited and trending vulnerabilities, a 3.4% increase in ransomware families, and a 1.2% increase in older vulnerabilities tied to ransomware compared to the first quarter of the year.
