Amended RoW rules for laying aerial OFC to facilitate 5G rollouts, say telcos, infrastructure providers

NEW DELHI: The amended Indian Telegraph Right of Way (RoW) Rules (November 2016) that has defined a framework for laying overhead optical fibre cable (OFC) will lead to the development of infrastructure to facilitate 5G rollouts across the country, said telecom operators and infrastructure providers (IPs) on Friday.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has by way of a gazette notification, amended the Act to prescribe various terms and conditions for laying overhead OFC.
