Relief package shows India wants a 3-player market: Vodafone Idea lenders

Vodafone Idea’s lenders expect the government’s telecom relief package to help improve the operator’s cash position and ease the pressure on its balance sheet. The package shows the government’s intention to maintain a three-player telecom market, they said.

The government on Wednesday rolled out a four-year moratorium on the statutory dues of telcos and opened up the automatic route for 100% foreign direct investment in the sector, which is expected to help attract global investors.
