The misunderstood product manager

Two decades ago, it seemed you couldn’t walk down a street in Bengaluru without bumping into a software engineer. Today, one of the hottest jobs in tech startups is that of a product manager, or a PM, even when the role doesn’t hinge on technical skills like coding.

Senior PMs at well-funded startups draw hefty pay packages, as much as developers at the same level in some cases. Some of the top unicorn founders hailing from a product background simply adds to the lure. It’s a soft-skills-heavy role, and chances are you will be snapped up faster if you are from a top tier B-school.
