Airtel’s recent moves on tariffs to push ARPU: Ind-Ra

Kolkata: Bharti Airtel’s recent move to hike floor prices of select prepaid and postpaid plans will support its average revenue per user (ARPU) growth in the medium to long term, India Ratings & Research (Ind-Ra) said.

This, according to the ratings agency, is since the Sunil Mittal-led telco is “less likely to face competition from Reliance Jio” due to the almost similar entry-level plans in the prepaid category and the sticky nature of subscribers in the postpaid category. Airtel’s entry-level feature phone pricing plan at Rs 79 is now broadly similar to Jio’s Rs 75.
