DoT mulls sending reference to Trai on 5G auction

Kolkata: The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is likely to shortly seek the sector regulator’s recommendations on all issues such as related to the auction of 5G airwaves.

“The government is considering sending a reference to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai), seeking its recommendations on issues involved in auction of spectrum available for International Mobile Telecommunications (read: 5G) services,” minister of state for communications Devusinh Chauhan told Rajya Sabha Thursday.

He, though, did not reveal any specific 5G auction timeline.
