NRAI submits more info to CCI on Swiggy, Zomato

BENGALURU: Restaurant industry body National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) filed additional information with the Competition Commission of India (CCI) on Monday to bolster its case against restaurant aggregation and food delivery platforms Swiggy and Zomato.

NRAI’s charge is that the platforms had adversely impacted the restaurant business. They said the platforms charged commissions in the range of 25-35% of the order value in the 2020-21 financial year.

They alleged numerous instances of delay in payment by the two companies, which affected cash flows of restaurants. NRAI also alleged that Zomato and Swiggy are forcing restaurant partners to give discounts on their platforms, and they have shifted the entire cost burden on the restaurants.
