Ashwini Vaishnaw, Devusinh Chauhan seek to expedite BharatNet deployment
NEW DELHI: Telecom minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and his junior colleague Devusinh Chauhan Monday reviewed the progress of BharatNet, a nationwide optic fibre-based network, and directed the Department of Telecommunications officials to expedite the initiative.
“Reviewed the performance of BharatNet project along with my colleague @devusinh for expediting its implementation in rural parts of the country, with Secretary, Telecom and other senior officers at DoT,” Vaishnaw tweeted.
The tweet from minister has come at a time when the countrywide Internet initiative is witnessing challenges including last-mile access, and is also further dragged following the Covid-19 outbreak.
