Samsung, Ericsson skip PLI scheme for telecom; 37 global, local vendors including Nokia, Cisco, Flex, Foxconn apply

NEW DELHI: Thirty-seven global and local gear vendors and contract manufacturers, including Nokia, Cisco, Flex, Foxconn and Jabil have applied for the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for telecom and networking equipment manufacturing.

Korea’s Samsung Electronics has decided not to apply for the scheme due to high investment needed at a time when the company has FTA route through which it continues to import equipment for its only customer, Reliance Jio.

Swedish gear vendor Ericsson has also decided not to apply for the scheme. Its contract manufacturing partner Jabil has applied for the scheme. Jabil is making telecom equipment for Ericsson in Pune.
