Gujarat adds 14.7 lakh new telecom subscribers

AHMEDABAD: With work from home and mandatory online education boosting the need for multiple mobile connections, some 14.76 lakh new telecom subscribers were added in Gujarat as on March 31, 2021. The new additions have propelled the number of mobile subscribers to 6.94 crore as compared to 6.79 crore during last financial year, shows the latest telecom subscription report released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

Gujarat’s mobile subscriber base surged after declining for two years in a row. “There was no alternative to working from home or even online education. A consistent internet connectivity is imperative. Not relying on a single connection, more people opted for multiple connections and consequently, the number of new mobile connections went up,” said telecom sector sector.
