India should align itself with globally harmonized standards for quick 5G rollout: Airtel

NEW DELHI: India needs to be a part of the globally harmonized standards for a faster 5G rollout in the country as it will enable interoperability, lead to faster implementation, and lower the cost of equipment in the country, said a top Airtel executive on Wednesday.

Speaking at the India Telecom–2021, organised by the Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC), Rahul Vatts, chief regulatory officer, Bharti Airtel said, “Now, today, there is a talk of having some Indian specific standards. While we all welcome that, we should remain aligned with the world, we should not become an isolated island”.
