What you must know before upgrading your Mac to macOS Big Sur

If you work on a Mac and wish to upgrade to macOS Big Sur operating system then you must ensure that you have adequate storage space. Upgrading to macOS Big Sur needs at least around 50GB of free storage space on your Mac. The macOS Big Sur needs around 36GB while the installer needs an extra 13GB. If you don’t have the required storage space then do not proceed with the update.
While trying to install Big Sur, macOS will not warn if you don’t have adequate storage space. And once you hit the update button you will soon get an error report after which your Mac will no longer boot, as per a report by Mr. Macintosh. This issue affects macOS Big Sur 11.2 and 11.3 beta installers.
So, if you have less storage space, take a backup of your personal and free up memory. Else, you will most likely have to erase the entire disk and reinstall macOS, if you run out of storage space midway.
Apple has not provided any details officially and it is expected that it will soon fix the software bug.
