Google employees from 10 countries form global union to prevent Alphabet from ‘being evil’
Google employees from across 13 regions in 10 countries which includes the United Kingdom, Switzerland and the United States have formed an international union. Called Alpha Global, the motive is simple, prevent Google and its parent company from ‘being evil’.
“Alphabet has long lost its commitment of “Don’t be evil,” but we haven’t. Together, we will hold Alphabet accountable. Together, we will change Alphabet,” as per the statement released by Alphabet Workers Union.
The new international union is affiliated with the UNI Global Union– a major federation of labor unions. Other than the United States, United Kingdom, Switzerland; the alliance includes unions from Italy, Ireland, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Belgium.
“We want to see a world in which Alphabet respects human and labour rights across its global operations and supply chain. This goal has never been more important than right now. The company is an architect of the new world of work. It is a major incubator of innovations, and as a technology leader, it is a laboratory for new methods of communications and working.
